List of Services and Responsibilities (Consultant)

• ✦Collection and review of educational and personal history, school records, and educational testing results
• ✦Assessment of student's interests, strengths, skills, and academic and extracurricular goals
• ✦Development of a "to do" list for standardized testing plan, college visit prep, and interview prep
• ✦Advise on building a balanced college list with extensive research of schools and programs tailored to the student's abilities, interests, and needs
• ✦Review of appropriate timelines and college planning checklists
• ✦Assist with and review all steps of the applications including:
• ◦Extracurricular Activities — advise on activities if necessary and assist student with preparation of this list for applications
• ◦Resume — assist student with preparation of an activities resume based upon the student's initial draft
• ◦Letters of Recommendation — advise on securing letters of recommendation
• ◦Essays — assist students in brainstorming and developing ideas, review drafts, help edit grammar, spelling, and elements of style. Students draft and redraft essays themselves so that the essay represents each student's own voice
• ✦Make necessary and relevant calls to colleges and programs for information and clarification relating to a student's circumstances
• ✦Advise on the general FAFSA process and timeline and assist in understanding financial aid offers

Consultant's Responsibilities DO NOT Include

• ✦Completing college and scholarship applications
• ✦Providing standardized test preparation or financial aid planning beyond timelines, general process information, and assisting in understanding financial aid offers. I can help you find specialists if needed
• ✦Guaranteeing college placement or acceptance to any school — all admission decisions are made solely by the educational institution. My services are designed to ensure students submit competitive applications and that families understand the process
• ✦Creating or writing any part of the college application or essays
• ✦Influencing college admissions officers
